  1. 2 cups self raising flour

  2. pinch salt

  3. 50g butter

  4. 1 cup or just under buttermilk

  5. Method

  6. Preheat oven to 220 C. Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Grate in butter and then rub until mixture resembles crumbs.

  7. Make a well in the centre, pour in the milk and mix with a knife until just combined to a soft dough.

  8. Tip dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a rectangle. Cut into shapes and place on a cold tray.

  9. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden.
