  1. Butter Cake

  2. 1 3/4 cups sugar

  3. 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened

  4. 2 egg

  5. 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  6. 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  7. 2 1/2 tsp baking powder

  8. 1 tsp salt

  9. 1 1/4 cups milk

  10. 350F. Grease and flour oblong pan,

  11. 13x9x2 inches,

  12. 9-inch or three 8-inch round layer pans. Mix sugar, margarine,

  13. eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Beat on high speed, scraping bowl

  14. occasionally, 5 minutes. Beat in flour, baking powder and salt

  15. alternately with milk on low speed. Pour into pan(s). Bake until

  16. 45 to

  17. 30 to 35 minutes; cool.

  18. Frost, if desired.
