  1. 3/4 c Shortening

  2. 1 c Brown sugar

  3. 1/4 c Molasses

  4. 1/4 c Water

  5. 2 ts Baking soda

  6. 1 ts Cinnamon

  7. 1 ts Ginger

  8. 1/2 ts Salt

  9. 2 1/2 c Flour

  1. Beat shortening for 30 seconds.

  2. Add sugar & beat till light & fluffy.

  3. Add molasses & water.

  4. Mix well.

  5. Add the baking soda, cinnamon, ginger & salt.

  6. Finally fold in flour.

  7. Mix well.

  8. Form into 1 inch balls.

  9. Place on a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

  10. Flatten slightly & bake at 375F for 8 to 10 minutes.

  11. Cool on a wire rack.

  12. Makes 36.
