  1. 4 Pita bread

  2. 2 tablespoons 30ml Butter

  3. 2 tablespoons 30ml Chopped onion

  4. 1 Garlic - minced

  5. 2 tablespoons 30ml Minced green pepper

  6. 1 lb 454g / 16oz Ground beef

  7. 1 tablespoon 15ml Prepared mustard

  8. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Oregano

  9. 1 teaspoon 5ml Salt

  10. Freshly ground black pepper

  11. 1 1/2 cups 93g / 3 1/3oz Peeled - seeded and chopped tomatoes

  1. Heat the bread in a low oven. Heat the butter in a skillet and saute the onion, garlic and pepper until just soft; do not brown. Add the beef, mustard, oregano, salt and a generous amount of pepper.

  2. Cook, stirring, until the meat is no longer red. At the last minute stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook briefly.

  3. Cut the pitas in half and stuff the pouches. Makes 4 generous servings.
