  1. 2 c Whole wheat pastry flour

  2. 1/2 c Walnuts (or other nuts),

  3. 1 c Dates, chopped

  4. 1/2 c Milk

  5. 2 ts Vanilla

  6. 2 Eggs

  7. 1/3 c Maple syrup

  8. 1/4 c Butter

  9. 1 ts Nutmeg

  10. 2 ts Baking powder

  11. Chopped

  1. Sift together flour, baking powder and nutmeg; set aside.

  2. Cream butter with maple syrup; add eggs, vanilla, and milk.

  3. Stir in flour mixture.

  4. Fold in dates and nuts.

  5. Pour mixture into lightly buttered 9" x 5" loaf pan.

  6. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 hours or until top splits or toothpick comes out clean.
