  5. 2 tb Butter

  6. 1/4 c Flour

  7. 1 c Maple syrup

  8. 1/2 c Water

  9. 3/4 c Walnut halves or pieces

  10. 1 x Pastry for one

  11. 8 or 9 pie

  12. Melt butter in small saucepan. Add flour all at once.

  13. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is golden

  14. brown. Add syrup and water and cook, whisking

  15. constantly until thickened. Allow to cool for 10

  16. minutes. Add nuts. Pour warm filling into prepared

  17. 350ø on center rack of oven for to 40 minutes or until filling is set and crust is

  18. golden brown. Cool on wire rack. May be decorated

  19. with nuts, pastry maple leaves, etc. Best if

  20. garnished with whipped cream.
