  1. 1 (8 ounce) package elbow macaroni

  2. 1/2 lb ham , chopped

  3. 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese

  4. 1 tablespoon butter (no substitutions)

  5. 4 eggs

  6. 1 teaspoon butter , melted

  7. 1 cup milk

  8. 1 tablespoon lemon peel , finely chopped

  9. nutmeg

  1. Cook macaroni in boiling salted water to al dente stage.

  2. While macaroni is cooking, preheat oven to 350F and lightly grease baking dish.

  3. Drain macaroni well and layer in prepared baking dish with ham and cream cheese, dotting each layer of macaroni with butter.

  4. Lightly sprinkle with nutmeg.

  5. Beat eggs and milk together; add melted butter and lemon peel.

  6. Pour over macaroni.

  7. Place filled baking pan in a larger pan of hot water and bake for 30 minutes.
