  1. Yield: 6 dozen

  2. 2 c Raisins

  3. 1 c Water

  4. 1 3/4 c Sugar

  5. 1 c Shortening

  6. 2 Eggs; slightly beaten

  7. 1 ts Vanilla extract

  8. 3 1/2 c Flour, all-purpose

  9. 1 ts Baking powder

  10. 1 ts Soda

  11. 1 ts Salt

  12. 1/2 ts Cinnamon

  13. 1/2 ts Nutmeg

  14. 1 c Pecans; or walnuts, chopped

  15. Combine raisins and water in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil, and boil about 3 minutes.

  16. Cool. (Do not drain.) Gradually add sugar to shortening, beating well after each addition. Add

  17. eggs; beat well. Stir in raisins with liquid and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to

  18. raisin mixture, stirring after each addition. Stir in pecans. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart

  19. 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or unitl browned.
