  1. T hin sour cream with milk if necessary until consistency of thick whipping cream. Combine sugar, syrup, butter and sour cream in saucepan; cook over medium or low heat to soft-ball stage. Cool; add vanilla and pour onto buttered platter. Do not spread. Top will be glossy and uneven. Cut into 3/4 inch squares when firm.
