  7. Cooked 1 c Cornmeal

  8. 1 t Baking soda

  9. 1/2 ts Salt

  10. 2 tb Butter

  11. 2 c Buttermilk

  12. 1 Egg -- slightly beaten

  13. Heat beans until quite hot and pour into a lightly

  14. 8"x

  15. 8 baking dish.

  16. Preheat oven to 450.

  17. Mix the cornmeal, baking soda, and salt in a large

  18. bowl. Melt the butter and combine with buttermilk and egg.

  19. Stir the wet and dry ingredients together until

  20. smooth, and pour them over the hot beans. Bake on the

  21. top rack of your oven until bread is a rich golden

  22. color and the sides of the corn bread pull away from

  23. the sides of the

  24. pan-about 30 minutes.
