  1. 5 1/2 to 6 cups flour

  2. 2 pkgs (4 1/2 teaspoons) yeast

  3. 1 tablespoon sugar

  4. 2 teaspoons salt

  5. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  6. 2 cups milk

  7. 1/2 cup water

  8. cornmeal

  1. Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and soda.

  2. Heat liquids until very warm (120-130 degrees). Add to dry mixture; beat well.

  3. Stir in enough more flour to make a stiff batter. Spoon into two 8½ x 4½ inch pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover; let rise in warm place for 45 minutes.

  4. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
