  5. 1 1/4 c Flour

  6. 1 c Whole wheat flour

  7. 1 c Sugar

  8. 3/4 c Brown sugar; packed

  9. 1 tb Cinnamon

  10. 2 ts Baking powder

  11. 1 ts Salt

  12. 1/2 ts Baking soda

  13. 3/4 c Cooking oil

  14. 1 ts Vanilla

  15. 3 Eggs

  16. 2 c Apples; finely chopped

  17. 1 c Chopped walnuts

  18. --glaze--

  19. 1/2 c Confectioner's sugar; sifted

  20. 1/4 ts Vanilla

  21. 2 ts Milk

  22. Generously grease and flour a 10-inch fluted tube pan;set aside. In a large

  23. mixing bowl combine the flours, sugars, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Add oil, vanilla and the eggs, beat until well mixed. Stir in

  24. the chopped apples and walnuts. Spoon batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake

  25. 350 F oven for 45-50 minutes, or until cake tests done. Cool in pan

  26. minutes; invert cake onto a wire rack. Cool thoroughly. Drizzle top with

  27. powdered sugar glaze, or dollops servings with sweetened whipped cream

  28. Powdered Sugar Glaze: In a small mixing bowl, stir together powdered sugar,

  29. vanilla and enough milk to make of drizzling consistency. Drizzle over

  30. cooled cake. --
