  1. 2 tablespoons 30ml Vegetable oil

  2. 1 tablespoon 15ml Onion - chopped (large)

  3. 1 1/2 lbs 681g / 24oz Ground lean beef or lamb

  4. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Allspice - ground

  5. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Madras curry powder

  6. Salt and pepper to taste

  7. 2 tablespoons 30ml Rose water

  8. 1/2 cup 31g / 1.1oz Currants - dried

  9. 1/2 cup 46g / 1.6oz Almonds - chopped

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet. Add onion. Saute until onion is tender. Add meat. Cook until browned and crumbly. Drain off fat, if necessary.

  2. Add allspice, curry powder, salt and pepper to cooked meat. Cook 3 minutes to blend flavors. Add remaining ingredients. Reduce heat and cover.

  3. Simmer over low heat 15 minutes, stirring to prevent sticking. Serve hot.
