  1. 8 ounces spaghetti

  2. 1/4 cup olive oil

  3. 2 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms

  4. 1/3 cup chopped onion

  5. 3/4 teaspoon minced garlic

  6. 1 1/2 cups water

  7. 1 (16-ounce) can tomato paste

  8. 1 (10 1/2-ounce) can chopped clams

  9. 1 medium tomato, diced

  10. 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  11. 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme salt and pepper to taste

  12. 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package directions. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Saute mushrooms, onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes .

  2. Add water, tomato paste, clams, tomato, red pepper flakes and thyme. Bring to boil, simmer for 1 hour. Season with salt and pepper. Pour sauce over spaghetti, sprinkle with mozzarella and serve hot.
