  1. 12 canned artichoke hearts (preferably with stems attached), drained, cut in half

  2. salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste

  3. 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs

  4. 1/2 cup finely grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese

  5. 2 tablespoon olive oil

  6. lemon as needed

  1. Preheat the broiler on the highest setting.

  2. Place the artichoke hearts, cut side up, on a foiled, lightly-oiled, baking sheet. Season with salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste. Sprinkle over the breadcrumbs, then the cheese, then drizzle with olive oil.

  3. Broil about 6 inches under the heat for 7-8 minutes, or until well browned. Serve warm or room temperature.
