  1. Peach Cake with Warm Vanilla Sauce

  2. 2 cups flour

  3. 1 1/4 cups sugar

  4. 1 1/4 cups sliced peaches

  5. 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  6. 1 teaspoon salt

  7. 1/3 cup shortening

  8. 1 cup milk

  9. 1 large egg

  10. 1/2 cup sugar

  11. 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  12. 1 cup boiling water

  13. 2 tablespoons butter

  14. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  15. nutmeg, to taste

  16. salt, to taste

  17. Put sugared peaches on bottom of greased sheet cake pan. Mix

  18. other ingredients (baking powder through egg) and pour over peaches.

  19. 350 degrees for 45 minutes

  20. VANILLA SAUCE : Mix sugar and cornstarch in small sauce

  21. pan. Add boiling water and boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, butter, nutmeg and salt. Serve warm over cake.
