  1. 1/2 c. flour

  2. 1/3 c. sugar

  3. 1/3 c. softened butter

  4. 1/2 c. sugar

  5. 1/2 c. packed brown sugar

  6. 2 tbsp. flour

  7. 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  8. 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

  9. 1/8 tsp. ginger

  10. 1/4 tsp. allspice

  11. 2 tsp. grated orange rind also

  12. 1 tbsp. orange juice

  13. 7 med. size cooking apples, peeled, cored and thin sliced

  14. 1 unbaked deep dish

  15. 9 inch pie shell

  1. Combine 1/2 cup flour and 1/3 cup sugar in a small mixing bowl. Cut in butter until it resembles course meal. Set aside.

  2. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, spices, orange rind and orange juice in a large mixing bowl. Add apples tossing lightly to coat evenly.

  3. Spoon apple mixture into pastry shell. Sprinkle reserved flour mixture evenly over apples.

  4. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 40 to 50 minutes. Cool before slicing. Serve pie with grated Cheddar cheese if desired.
