  2. 2 cup Dried pinto beans -- washed

  3. 2 cloves Garlic -- minced

  4. 1/2 cup Smoked ham -- chopped

  5. 1/2 cup Chopped bell pepper

  6. 2 Teaspoon Brown sugar

  7. 1/4 Teaspoon Oregano

  8. 1 large Onion -- chopped

  9. 1 Bay leaf

  10. 2 cup Canned chopped tomatoes

  11. 2 Teaspoon Chili powder

  12. 1/2 Teaspoon Dry mustard

  1. Cover beans with water and let soak overnight. Drain beans,discarding soaking water. In crock pot, cover beans with fresh water andadd remaining ingredients. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours, until beans aretender. Taste beans, add salt if necessary (don't add salt at the beginningof cooking time - it will make the beans tough!
