  2. Soy-Ginger Sauce:

  3. 1 tbsp. peeled fresh ginger, minced

  4. 1 tbsp. vegetable oil

  5. 3 tbsp. all purpose flour

  6. 2 cups chicken broth

  7. 1/4 cup soy sauce

  8. Steak:

  9. 1/4 cup minced garlic

  10. 1/4 cup grated fresh ginger

  11. 1 tbsp. Chinese five-spice powder

  12. 1 tbsp. salt

  13. 1 tsp. pepper

  14. 12 New York strip or strip loin steaks

  15. 3/4 cup sliced green onion

  1. For Sauce:

  2. Heat oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add ginger and cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in flour. Gradually whisk in broth and soy sauce. Cook, whisking constantly, until sauce is thickened. Strain sauce and keep warm.

  3. For Steak:

  4. Stir together garlic, ginger, five-spice powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Season both sides of each steak with 1 tsp. spice mixture. Place steaks in a large pan. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.

  5. Grill steaks to desired doneness. Serve each steak with 1 ounce sauce and 1 tbsp. green onions.
