  1. 2 3/4 cup Flour; sifted all-purpose

  2. 2 teaspoons Baking powder

  3. teaspoon Soda

  4. teaspoon Salt

  5. cup Sugar

  6. cup Nut meats; chopped

  7. cup Seedless raisins

  8. cup Molasses

  9. 1 Egg; beaten

  10. cup Shortening; melted or oil

  11. 2 teaspoons Grated orange rind

  1. Mix together and sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt and sugar into a mixing bowl; add nut meats and raisins and mix together.

  2. Combine the milk, molasses, egg, shortening and orange rind; add to dry mixture and stir only enough to dampen flour. Bake in a greased bread pan, 10x5x3 inch, in a moderate oven, 350 degrees F., for 1¼ hours.

  3. This recipe makes a large loaf of fruit bread.
