  1. Preheat oven to 450 F. In a large skillet heat oi and butter over medium heat. Add onions, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; cook about 12 minutes or until onions are very tender. Stir in apple; cook 2 minutes more. Set aside. In a medium bowl stir together cheeses and light mayonnaise; set aside. Combine egg and milk; set aside. On a lightly floured surface, roll one of the puff pastry sheets into a 12-inch square. Cut into nine 4-inch squares. Spread some of the cheese mixture in the center of each square. Top with some of the onion mixture. Brush edges with egg mixture. Fold one corner of each square to the opposite corner, forming triangles. Press edges with a fork to seal. Place triangles on greased baking sheets. In a small bowl whisk together egg and milk. Brush triangles with some of the egg mixture. Repeat with remaining puff pastry, cheese mixture, onion mixture, and egg mixture. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
