  1. 3 tablespoons butter, softened

  2. 1 cup sugar

  3. 1 egg

  4. 2 cups all-purpose flour

  5. 2 teaspoons baking powder

  6. 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  7. 1 cup milk

  8. 2 cups cranberries

  9. 2 tablespoons grated orange or lemon peel


  11. 1-1/3 cups sugar

  12. 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  13. 2/3 cup butter

  1. Cranberry Cake Recipe photo by Taste of Home In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking powder and nutmeg; add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in cranberries and orange peel.

  2. Pour into a greased 11-in. x 7-in. baking dish. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

  3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine sauce ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through. Cut warm cake into squares; serve with cream sauce. Yield: 8-10 servings.
