  1. In a large soup kettle, add carrots, and celery. Put in chicken and fill with cold water. Bring to boil, straining off fat on top. About two hours into the soup, add the tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste. Keep simmering for another hour. Strain. Cook pasta separately; add to soup before serving. We do not add the chicken, but de-bone and those who like the meat in it can add it themselves.
