  1. 6 cups 1422ml Apples; pared - cored and thinly

  2. 1 cup 198g / 7oz Sugar

  3. 1 1/4 cups 78g / 2.8oz All-purpose flour

  4. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Cinnamon

  5. 1 1/2 teaspoons 7 1/2ml Baking powder

  6. 1 1/2 cups 219g / 7.7oz Shredded cheddar cheese

  7. 1/3 cup 65g / 2 1/3oz Butter or margarine - melted

  8. 1/4 cup 59ml Milk

  1. Preheat oven to 400F. Lightly butter 8x8x2-inch square or 11x7x2-inch baking pan. Set aside.

  2. Combine apples that have been peeled cored and thinly sliced, 3/4 cup of the sugar, 1/4 cup of the flour and the cinnamon in large bowl; toss together.

  3. Spread evenly in prepared pan. Combine remaining 1 cup flour, remaining 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and cheese in large bowl; toss together to combine. Add butter and milk, stirring until just combined.

  4. Spoon cheese mixture over apple mixture in pan.

  5. Bake at 400F for 30-35 minutes or until topping is crisp and golden and apples are tender.

  6. Serve warm.
