  1. 4 c. flour, unsifted

  2. 1 3/4 c. shortening

  3. 1 tbsp. sugar

  4. 1 tbsp. vinegar

  5. 1/2 c. water

  6. 2 tsp. salt

  7. 1 egg

  1. Combine the flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening. Beat together vinegar, egg and water. Stir into flour mixture. Divide into 4 equal portions. Place in wax paper. Chill at least 30 minutes before rolling out on floured surface. If baking before filling, prick bottom and side walls with fork; bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Bake until crust is golden. For a filled shell, bake according to pie filling recipe.
