  1. 1 c flour

  2. 1 tsp baking powder

  3. 1/2 c butter cut into small pieces

  4. 1/4 c water

  5. 1/4 c sugar

  6. 1/4 tsp salt Filling

  7. 6 c peeled, sliced apple s (about 7 apples)

  8. 2 T lemon juice

  9. 1 tsp cinnamon

  10. 1 T butter , cut into pieces

  11. 2 T flour

  12. 1/2 c maple syrup

  13. 1 T sugar Heavy Cream

  1. Heat oven to 400°F. Butter shallow 2½ qt baking dish. Dough: Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With pastry blender, cut in butter until course crumbs form. Add water, stir just to moisten. Filling: Mix apples and lemon juice in large bowl. Sprinkle with flour and cinnamon; toss. Transfer to saucepan. Add maple syrup. Cook over medium heat until heated. Spoon into prepared pan. Dot with butter. Drop dough in rounded tablespoons over hot filling. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with cream if desired.
