  1. 1 bag caramels -- (approx. 50)

  2. 2/3 cup evaporated milk

  3. 1 box Swiss chocolate cake mix

  4. 3/4 cup melted butter

  5. 1 cup chocolate chips

  6. 1 cup chopped nuts

  1. Preparation : Preheat oven to 350 F.. Melt caramels and 1/3 c. of the milk in microwave or double boiler. Mix cake mix, 1/3 c. milk and melted butter with mixer. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed. Spread half of the batter in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350 F. Cook cake for 2 minutes. Drizzle with caramel mixture. Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel. Sprinkle 1/2 c. nuts over the chocolate chips. Mix remaining nuts with remaining cake batter. Drop from spoon on top of layered ingredients. Bake for 18 minutes more. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Makes 24 to 36 bars.
