    1. 3/4 c. shortening

    2. 3/4 c. butter

    3. 1 c. sugar

    4. 2 c. dark brown sugar

    5. 3 eggs

    6. 4 1/2 c. plain flour, sifted

    7. 1 tsp. salt

    8. 1 tsp. soda

    9. 1 tsp. vanilla

    1. Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs, beating well. Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well with hands, kneading together. Make about 5 rolls, wrap with foil and chill or freeze. Slice 1/4 inch and bake at 350 degrees on lightly greased pan until light brown. About 10 minutes.
