  2. 2 1/2 pounds turnips, peeled and diced

  3. 1/4 cup butter

  4. salt and pepper to taste

  5. 1 teaspoon sugar

  6. Water to cover

  1. Place turnips in a bot with enough water to cover them.

  2. Bring water to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer over low heat 15 minutes or until tender.

  4. Remove from heat and drain.

  5. Mash turnips slightly. Add butter, salt, pepper, and sugar. Complete mashing, stirring to mix seasonings.
