  2. 1 1/2 cups sugar

  3. 1/2 cup corn syrup

  4. 1/2 cup water

  5. 1 dash salt

  6. 2 cups raw peanuts

  7. 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

  8. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Place sugar, corn syrup, water, salt and peanuts in 2 quart microproof bowl orcasserole.

  2. Cook on High (maximum power) for 5 minutes, then stir.

  3. Cook on High (maximum power) for 13 to 15 minutes or until syrup separates intothreads.

  4. This is the hard-crack stage or 300 degrees on a candy thermometer.

  5. Check temperature with thermometer several times during the last few minutes.

  6. (Do not leave thermometer in oven while cooking. )

  7. Stir in butter, baking soda and vanilla just until light and bubbly.

  8. Pour onto buttered cookie sheet.

  9. Spread.

  10. Cool and break into pieces.

  11. Makes 1 1/4 pounds.

  12. Note: You may use either light or dark corn syrup.

  13. The color of the peanut brittle will differ, but both are delicious.
