    1. 1 pt Okra

    2. 1 qt Water

    3. 1/4 c Parsley; minced

    4. 1 ts Thyme

    5. 1 ts Oregano

    6. 1 ts Pepper

    7. 1 tb Salt

    8. 1/2 ts Chili pwd.

    9. 1/8 ts Cloves

    10. 4 tb Worcestershire

    11. 2 c Tomatoes

    12. 1/4 c Flour

    13. 1 Green pepper; chopped

    14. 2 Celery stems; chopped

    15. 2 Medium onions; chopped

    16. 6 tb Bacon grease

    17. 1 1/2 lb Shrimp*; peeled & deveined

    1. Cut and fry okra in bacon grease.

    2. Add onion, celery, green pepper.

    3. Blend in the flour and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbly and vegetables are tender.

    4. Add tomatoes, Worchestershire, cloves, chili pwd, salt, pepper, oregano, thyme parsley water and shrimp* (may substitute or add other seafood as available--the best gumbo I every ate included fresh crab, shrimp, and red fish--).

    5. Simmer one to two hours.

    6. Serve over rice.
