  2. 3 cups water

  3. 2 small chopped onions

  4. 3 stalks chopped celery

  5. 2 slices carrots

  6. 1 pound canned tomatoes

  7. 1 teaspoon pepper

  8. Salt as desired

  9. 1 package (10 oz.) frozen mixed vegetables

  10. 1 pound diced chuck roast or top round browned

  11. -- and 1 tablespoon beef base -- granules or paste

  12. 1/2 cup butter or margarine

  13. 1/2 cup flour

  1. Put all ingredients except butter and flour in crock pot. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours. One hour before serving, turn to high. Make a roux of 1 stick melted butter or margarine and 1/2 cup flour. Stir until smooth. Pour into crock-pot and stir until thickened.
