  1. Put all the chopped vegetables, garlic, herbs and some butter or olive oil in a pot and stir for five minutes. Season with salt and pepper and stir for a further ten minutes. Heat the oven to 150C Add the beef and stir until brown. When browned on all sides, add some water, or alternatively red wine, then cook for an hour or until well cooked.
