  6. 3 c Sugar

  7. 3/4 c Light corn syrup

  8. 3/4 c Water

  9. 2 Egg whites

  10. 1 pk (3-oz) any fruit flavor -Jell-O

  11. 1 c Chopped nuts

  12. 1 c Fine-grated coconut

  13. Lovely candies, that are flavored and colored with fruit flavor gelatin.

  14. Mix sugar, corn syrup, and water; bring to a boil over low heat, stirring

  15. to dissolve sugar. Continue boiling, stirring occasionally, until a little

  16. 252F on a candy thermometer

  17. about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Then

  18. add Jell-O, 1 tablespoon at a time, and beat until mixture will stand in

  19. stiff peaks.

  20. Then pour syrup in a thin stream over the egg white mixture, beating

  21. constantly. Continue beating until mixture will hold its shape and loses

  22. its gloss- about 10 minutes with an electric mixer. Add nuts; quickly pour

  23. in to a well-greased 9-inch square pan, or drop by teaspoonsfuls onto wax

  24. paper and allow to dry. Let stand in pan until firm enough to handle,

  25. 10 minutes. Cut into 8 strips, foll in coconut, and cut each into 12 pieces. Roll in coconut again. Allow to dry about 2 hours. Store in

  26. a covered container. Makes about 7 dozen candies. Note if candy becomes too

  27. stiff during beating, add few drops hot water.
