  1. 3/4 c sugar

  2. 4T cornstarch

  3. 1/4 tsp salt

  4. 3 c milk

  5. 4 egg yolks, lightly beaten

  6. 4T butter ( 1/2 stick) softened

  7. 2 tsp vanilla

  1. Combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan and stir together with a wisk until their are no lumps of cornstarch visible. The mixture will look slightly powdery. Continue to wisk as you add the milk.. little at a time first, then to a steady stream. Now wisk in the egg yolks until you see no flecks of yolk. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly until it boils. Make sure to stir well, along the sides so no lumps form. Once you reach a full boil, reduce heat and continue to stir for 3 minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat, add butter and vanilla. Put plastic wrap directly on top of the pudding so no skin forms and let cool.
