  1. 8 c White bread, cubed-

  2. 16 slices 1 lb Sausage meat

  3. 1 lg Onion, diced

  4. 2 lg Apples, pared, quartered, Cored, and chopped

  5. 1/2c Water

  6. 1 ts Salt

  1. + Directions : 1. Spread bread cubes on large cookie sheets; place in oven at 250F for 10 minutes; remove from oven; reserve.

  2. Cut sausage into thick slices. Brown 5 minutes on each side in a medium-size skillet, then break into small pieces. Cook 1 minute longer or until no trace of pink remains. Combine with bread cubes in a large bowl.

  3. Pour off drippings from skillet; measure; return 2 tablespoons. Add onions, and saut until tender. Stir in water and apples; heat to boiling. Pour over sausage mixture; add salt; toss lightly until evenly moist. Makes approximately 10 cups.
