  1. 5 oz cream cheese, softened

  2. 1/4 cup orange marmalade

  3. 16 diagonally cut slices (1/2 inch thick) French bread

  4. 1 cup Original Bisquick® mix

  5. 2/3 cup milk

  6. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  7. 1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel

  8. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  9. 1 egg

  10. 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

  11. Maple-flavored syrup, if desired

  1. In small bowl, mix cream cheese and marmalade until blended. Spread 8 slices of the bread with cream cheese mixture. Top each with 1 of the remaining bread slices, making 8 sandwiches.

  2. In shallow dish or pie pan, stir Bisquick mix, milk, cinnamon, orange peel, vanilla and egg with whisk or fork until blended.

  3. Heat nonstick griddle to 350°F or nonstick skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich into batter mixture, turning to coat both sides; drain excess batter in dish. Cook on hot griddle or skillet 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Sprinkle each sandwich with powdered sugar; serve with syrup.
