    1. 1 box light brown sugar

    2. 1/2 c. white sugar

    3. 1 1/2 c. shortening (1/3 butter)

    4. 1 tsp. vanilla, lemon & almond extract

    5. 5 egg yolks, well beaten

    6. 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    7. 1 c. sweet milk

    8. 1 c. nut meats, optional

    9. 3 c. flour

    10. 5 egg whites, well beaten

    1. Cream shortening. Add sugar and beat well. Stir in beaten yolk, mix baking powder with flour and add alternately with milk. Fold in egg whites, then add nut meats. Bake in tube pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
