  1. 1 pound lean ground beef

  2. 1/2 cup chopped onion

  3. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  4. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  5. 2 eggs

  6. 1 cup chopped onion

  7. 2 cloves garlic, minced

  8. 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced

  9. 1 can (28 oz.) stewed tomatoes

  10. 1 can (13 oz.) tomato paste

  11. 1/2 cup red wine

  12. 1 teaspoon parsley

  13. 1 teaspoon oregano

  14. 1 teaspoon basil

  15. Salt and pepper

  16. 1 bay leaf

  17. Directions:

  18. Meatballs:

  19. Mix all ingredients together. Shape into meatballs. Set aside.

  20. Sauce:

  21. Mix all the ingredients together in a large saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

  22. 20 to 25 minutes. Remove bay leaf.

  23. Serve over spaghetti. Top with Parmesan cheese if desired. Makes 4 servings
