  1. 1 tablespoon sugar

  2. 3 black cardamoms

  3. 5 cloves

  4. 2 sticks cinnamon

  5. 5 whole black peppercorns

  6. 1 large onion -- sliced

  7. 100 grams vanaspathi

  8. 500 milliliters water -- (3 1/3 cups) salt -- to taste

  9. 1 1/2 cups Basmati rice

  1. Preparation : Brown sugar in cooker body. Add whole spices, sliced onions, vanaspati. Fry onions until golden brown. Add rice and fry for a few minutes. Add water and salt. Close lid and simmer until rice is cooked.
