  1. INGREDIENTS:

  2. 2 lbs - fish, sliced and cleaned (preferably fresh boston/spanish mackerel)

  3. 1 - onion, sliced

  4. 4 - green chillies, slit and deseeded

  5. 1 can - coconut milk

  6. 2 tablespoon - oil

  7. 1 cup - water

  8. 2 tbsp - coriander powder

  9. 1 tbsp - red chilly powder

  10. 1/2 cup - tamarind

  11. 1 tbsp - turmeric powder

  12. 12 tablespoon - water

  13. 6 to 7 - curry leaves

  14. salt to taste

  15. DIRECTIONS:

  16. Rub the fish slices with some salt and a pinch of turmeric powder.

  17. Keep aside for 5 minutes.

  18. Wash well and drain.

  19. Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and saute the onions and chillies on medium heat for about 5 minutes or till the onions are golden brown.

  20. 1 tbsp red chilly powder,

  21. 2 tbsp coriander powder and 1 tbsp turmeric powder.

  22. Fry it briefly.

  23. Dissolve a piece of tamarind in water and add it to the above mix.

  24. Add the coconut milk and water.

  25. Bring to a boil.

  26. Add the fish, curry leaves and salt.

  27. Mix very gently and simmer on low heat for about 6 minutes or till the fish is cooked.
