  8. 2 md Garlic cloves, chopped fine

  9. 1 sm Onion, chopped fine

  10. 2 oz Light-style ham, thinly

  11. -sliced, cut into 1/4-by-

  12. -1-inch strips

  13. 1/4 c Reduced chicken broth

  14. 1 cn Italian white beans (16 oz)

  15. -(cannellini) rinsed & dried

  16. 1 tb Double-concentrate tomato

  17. - paste

  18. 1 tb Fresh savory leaves, choppe

  19. 1 tb Fresh basil, shredded

  20. 1 tb Fresh Italian parsley,

  21. - chopped 2 ts Sugar

  22. 1 t Dried oregano

  24. In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the oil with the garlic, onion, and 3 to

  25. minutes, add the broth, stirring and scraping to deglaze. Then add the

  26. tomatoes, breaking them up with your hands, and stir in the remaining

  27. ingredients.

  28. Simmer the sauce until it is thick but still slightly liquid, about 15

  29. minutes. Spoon over cooked pasta (medium to wide strands, ribbons, tubes,

  30. or shapes).

  31. Note: to make reduced chicken broth, briskly boil 2 cups of broth until it
