  5. 1 3/4 c Unsifted flour

  6. 2 c Sugar

  7. 1 ts Salt

  8. 1 1/2 ts Baking soda

  9. 1 1/2 ts Baking powder

  10. 3/4 c Cocoa powder

  11. 1 c Milk

  12. 2 lg Eggs; (well beaten)

  13. 1/2 c Vegetable oil

  14. 2 ts Vanilla

  15. 1 c Boiling water

  16. Frosting:

  17. 4 c Powdered sugar;

  18. 1 lb

  19. 1/4 ts Salt

  20. 7 tb Cocoa powder

  21. 1/2 c Milk

  22. 1/4 lb Butter or margarine

  23. 2 1/2 ts Brandy extract; (shillings)

  24. 1 ts Vanilla

  25. Combine all dry ingredients in a large mixer bowl and mix

  26. at lowest speed until blended well. Add the remaining

  27. ingredients EXCEPT the water and beat at medium speed for two minutes. Next, using a spoon, stir in the boiling

  28. water and mix well. Mixture will be very thin but this

  29. makes it very, very moist. Next pour into two greased and 350 degrees for 45 to 50 mins

  30. or until the sides pull away from the pan and the cake

  31. springs back in the center. Let cool and frost: Mix

  32. powdered sugar, salt and cocoa on low speed in mixer bowl.

  33. Add milk all at once and mix followed by butter a little at

  34. a time. Add flavorings and beat on high speed for at least

  35. four minutes. --
