  1. Chocolate Chip Cookies

  2. Yield: 18 cookies

  3. 115 g butter; softened

  4. 70 g caster sugar

  5. 70 g brown sugar

  6. 1 egg

  7. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  8. 140 g plain flour

  9. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  10. 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  11. 175 g chocolate chips

  12. 190 C /

  13. 375 F / Gas

  14. 5. Beat the butter and sugars

  15. together in a mixing bowl until creamy. Break the egg into the

  16. bowl and beat it into the mixture until smooth. Then add the

  17. vanilla essence and mix it in. Add the flour, salt and bicarbonate

  18. of soda to the mixture, a little at a time, and stir everything

  19. together well. Now add the chocolate chips and stir them in until

  20. they are evenly spread through the cookie mixture. Butter the

  21. baking trays and spoon small mounds of the mixture on them leaving

  22. quite big spaces between the mounds. Bake the cookies for 10 to

  23. 12 minutes until they are an even golden brown colour, then move

  24. them on to a wire rack to cool.
