  1. 1-1/2 cups sugar

  2. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

  3. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  4. 3/4 teaspoon salt

  5. 2 large eggs

  6. 1 teaspoon ground cloves

  7. 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  8. 1-2/3 cups all-purpose flour

  9. 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  10. 1/2 cup water

  11. 1 cup canned pumpkin

  12. 1/2 cup chopped pecans

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a large bowl combine the sugar, baking powder , baking soda , salt , eggs, cloves, nutmeg , flour, oil, water, pumpkin , and pecans , mixing well after each addition. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

  3. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
