  1. 118 1/59 ml peanut butter

  2. 59.14 ml shortening

  3. 118 1/59 ml brown sugar

  4. 118 1/59 ml white sugar

  5. 1 well-beaten egg (extra-large egg yields best results)

  6. 236 1/29 ml flour

  7. 4.92 ml baking soda

  8. sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 350-degrees.

  2. Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl.

  3. Mix well with a spoon.

  4. Shape dough into 1-inch round balls.

  5. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

  6. Press balls flat with fork dipped in extra sugar.

  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

  8. Cookies should not be too brown.

  9. Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheet for one minute, then remove to wire racks.
