  1. 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

  2. 1/4 cup chopped onion

  3. 1/4 cup cubed fully cooked ham

  4. 1/4 cup butter, cubed

  5. 1/4 cup water

  6. 1 garlic clove, minced

  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  8. 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  1. In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender. Drain if necessary. Yield: 4 servings.
