  1. 2 c Sugar

  2. 1/2 c Corn sirup

  3. 2 Egg whites

  4. 1 c Chopped nuts

  5. 1/2 c Water

  6. 1/8 ts Salt

  7. 1/2 ts Vanilla

  8. 1/8 ts Cream of tartar

  1. Combine sugar, sirup, water, salt, and cream of tartar.

  2. Cover and boil 5 minutes.

  3. Uncover.

  4. Wipe sides of pan with damp cloth.

  5. Boil without stirring to firm ball stage (245 - 248 F).

  6. Remove from fire.

  7. Pour slowly, beating constantly, over stiffly beaten egg whites.

  8. Continue beating until mixture holds its shape when dropped from spoon.

  9. Add flavoring and nuts.

  10. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper, or pour into well-buttered pan.

  11. When cold cut in squares.
