  1. 2 1/2 c Flour; Unbleached, Sifted

  2. 1/2 c Cocoa; Baking

  3. 2 t Baking Soda

  4. 1 t Cinnamon; Ground

  5. 1 t Salt

  6. 3/4 c Vegetable Shortening

  7. 2 c Sugar

  8. 2 ea Eggs; Large

  9. 1 c Applesauce

  10. 1 c Buttermilk

  11. 1/3 c ;Boiling Water

  12. --CHOCOLATE FLUFF FROSTING-- 2 oz Unsweetened Chocolate

  13. 1/2 c Confectioners' Sugar; Sifted

  14. 1/4 c Butter Or Margarine;Softened

  15. 1 t Vanilla

  16. 2 ea Egg Whites; Large

  17. 1 c Confectioners' Sugar; Sifted

  18. 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake in preheated

  19. 350 degree F. oven for 1 hour or until cake tests done. Cool

  20. 10 minutes in pan on rack. Remove from pan; cool on rack. When cake is cooled, spread with Chocolate Fluff Frosting. Cut in squares. CHOCOLATE FLUFF FROSTING: Melt chocolate over hot water. Cool to room temperature. Blend together confectioners' sugar, butter, melted chocolate and vanilla in a bowl and beat until smooth. In another bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form, using an electric mixer at high speed. Gradually beat in
