  1. Barbecued Pork Strips Recipe

  2. 2 lbs. pork butt (boneless)

  3. For the marinade:

  4. 1 tsp. 5-spice powder

  5. 1 tbsp. garlic, minced

  6. 2 tbsps. Light soy sauce

  7. 1 tbsp. Hoisin sauce

  8. 2 tbsps. dry sherry or Chinese rice wine

  9. 2 tbsps. Sugar

  10. 1 tbsp. Brown bean sauce

  11. 1 tbsp. Red bean curd

  12. Basting Recipe :

  13. 3 tbsps. Boiling water

  14. 3 tbsps. Honey or malt sugar

  15. Pork butt should be cut into half. Then the halves should be sliced in strips that measure about 3/4-inch. Place pork strips into the bowl together with marinade mixture and be sure to evenly coat all pork strips.

  16. Marinate overnight or in room temp. for about 3 hrs.

  17. Take out pork from marinade then baste pork strips with sugar-malt mixture. Using curved skewers (which you can get from Chinese cookware shops & restaurant-supply shops) to hang marinated meat from your oven's top shelf over a big pan that has been filled up to 1/4-inch of water.

  19. 350′ F then baste it occasionally using honey or malt sugar.

  20. 45 mins., heat should be increased to around

  21. 425′ F and continue to roast pork for about 20 mins. until it is done. When pork has cooled enough for handling, slice it up in 1/2-inch cuts then arrange them onto a serving platter.

  22. 4-6 servings as main dish together with some vegetables or 8-10 servings as appetizer.
